Ken’s Volunteer Story!

“I became a volunteer at RMH Boston Harbor in August of 2019. I heard about RMH by looking up volunteer opportunities that involved working with populations facing challenging circumstances, and found RMH! The process of becoming a volunteer was so special and amazing. Everyone at RMH was so welcoming and helpful. I knew after I met the staff the first time that I was entering an amazing opportunity. Meeting the families and children during my training solidified that RMHBH would provide a very special and unique volunteering opportunity. I am a weekend Relief Manager, so I oversee the volunteer groups, clean and prepare apartments and check in new families. I love meeting the children and their families, and being able to provide them a positive environment during a difficult time. I also love meeting all the amazing volunteer groups that always come up with such creative activities! A highlight of my time volunteering is when I see the look on the families’ faces when you show them their apartment for the first time. It is so exciting and meaningful. Families are so thankful and I am so lucky to be able to be a part of the process of making them feel at home.”
